 Message Window
 
The message window shown on the picture bellow allows you to send Short Messages to numbers stored in your address book or to numbers that you can introduce directly in this window.

 
 
The main message window contains the following fields:
 
To get the list of nicknames from your address book click on the "Name" button . After this, you will get a popup window with all nicknames of your address book. Select one nickname of this list clicking on the "OK" button or making a double click on the nickname. After this, the message window will contain all the required information for send a Short Message to this person. To insert or change items in your address book please see the address book tab.
To select a free SMS-Server please choose an item from the "SMS-Server" list. Its is important, that you should get a server which contains the prefix number you want to call. After selecting an SMS-Server, the prefix list bellow will be updated with the prefix numbers supported for that server.

The SMS-Server list will be increased often. To get the newest list of free SMS-Servers please look at the WebSMS homepage.

To select the prefix number of the cellular phone you want to call, please choose an item from the "Prefix" list. If you don't find the desired prefix number, please choose another SMS-Server. Note that the prefix list is dependent on the selected free SMS-Server.
On the "Number" field you can introduce the number of the cellular phone you want to call. Please be sure that you have selected the correct prefix number.
To insert your signature after the message you want to send, please enable the "Signature" check box. Note that the maximal number of characters in your message will be reduced with the characters of your signature. To set or change your signature text please see the settings tab.
To insert a predefined message please click on the "Standard message" button. After this, you will get a popup window with all the standard messages you have defined. Select one item of this list clicking on the "OK" button or making a double click on the item. After this, the selected message will be inserted on the message field. To insert or change items in your standard message list, please see the standard messages tab.
On the "Message text" field you can insert the text of your Short Message. On the upper left side of the field you can control the number of characters remaining that you can insert. Remember, that in general you can only send Sort Messages with at most 160 characters. How to insert your signature or standard messages is explained above.
Click the "Clear" button to delete completely the text on the message field.
After you have selected the number of the receiver of the Short Message and after you have introduced the message, please press the "Send" button to transmit the Short Message. Be sure, that you have an active internet connection. After pressing the send button you will see the status of the transmission on the Status window. Firstly, WebSMS will connect to the free Web SMS-Server. If this connection doesn't fail, WebSMS will proceed to send the Short Message. After a short time, the SMS-Server should response. The result of this response is showed in the "Status" window.
If the Short Message has been sent, WebSMS shows the status: "SMS-Message has been sent" and some information from the free SMS-Server is showed in "Status" window. Pleas note, that WebSMS receives only the information of the free SMS-Server, that your message has been queued. This does not guarantee that the Short Message has been really sent to the receiver.
ws_msg_error.gif (1798 bytes) If some error occurs during the transmission of the Short Message, WebSMS will display: "SMS-Message could not be sent". The "Status" will show some information describing the reason of the error.
ws_msg_exit.gif (972 bytes) To exit WebSMS please press the "Exit" button. This will terminate the execution of the program.
